BEIJING, April 1 – The Internet must be open during the Beijing Olympics.
That was the message a top-ranking International Olympic Committee official delivered Tuesday to Beijing organizers during the first of three days of meetings – the last official sessions between IOC inspectors and the Chinese hosts before the games begin in just over four months.

Thank you IOC!!!
If that would work, you will destroy all of China's Govt. work to keep it's citizens ignorant about the truth.
I pray that this wish will be granted though, however unrealistic it is...

This is hilarious. How did IOC grant the previlege of staging Olympics to China where one has to explicitly ask for dumbest thing of the present day
May god save the Chinese from their rulers.

Most of the Internet is porn and propaganda. Buy this believe this.
Would unrestricted access help people without computers?

Nope.
But it would give the rest an opportunity to finally see something that is not heavily censored.
Strange as it may sound perhaps, but many Westerners think that it is important to be allowed to make up our own minds.
If you look throught the comments on this blog, you will notice how much of a communication barrier there is between the Chinese and Westerners.
Westerners try to say something about people that are being killed, jailed and tortured, and the Chinese talk about how a picture in the Western media may not quite fit to an article, totally disregarding what is shown on the images - what about miscommunication...
The only way to resolve this is to openly discuss with each other and trying to get used to the other person's way of thinking. That in turn can only happen if people are allowed freedom of speech (at least to a reasonable extent).
May all people be free to find the truth towards happiness and away from suffering.

Hi Kenneth, if you do not write improper language, I will try to answer you.
I fully agree with you about the absurd accusations that the USA used to invade Iraq. I am strongly opposed to that war, and have ben protesting in the streets if you like to know. (Non-violently of course.)
But does this justify the killing, rape, torture and destruction that has been happening in Tibet for 50 years now? Is it OK for China to cause so much suffering only because the USA also does it?
This sounds like a very strange logic to me.
