More evidence of Chinese media manipulation
For decades now, the Chinese are trying to manipulate the media to cover up their actions, see this page at the Epoch Times of March 29 at http://en.epochtimes.com/news/8-3-29/67906.html.
One of the "rioters" on the Chinese 'wanted' posters, also featured in CCTV's riot coverage, was a policeman. He was brandishing a long knife.
Then, a Thai tourist who happened to be around in a police station, saw this guy with the long knife entering, and re-appearing in police uniform... Back in Thailand, she saw the image and reported the incident"On Xinhua and other Chinese-language Web sites friendly to the regime, after the rally at which the witness spoke, the policeman in disguise had disappeared from photos taken at the same scene in which he had previously been visible. Recently, the original man-with-the-knife photo has returned to these Web sites."
This was certainly not the first time of something like this: as Epoch Times noticed:
"In his "Events in Lhasa March 2-10, 1989", the Chinese journalist Tang Daxian revealed how the CCP orchestrated violence as part of a plan to suppress the 1989 protests in Tibet. "
And further: "According to the NY Times, "Foreigners and Lhasa residents who witnessed the violence were stunned by what they saw, and by what they did not see: the police. Riot police officers fled after an initial skirmish and then were often nowhere to be found." "How gross can you get?

Hi,
I WAS pretty shocked when I first saw your post here. BUT, after I spent some minutes tried to approve what you have written, I found out WHAT YOU HAVE WRITTEN IS COMPLETELY LIE!!!
THE PHOTO IS NEVER BEEN EDIED BY THE GOVERMENT!
Even you cannot read Chinese, you still can see the picture is NOT EDITED AT ALL from CCTV's website:
http://news.cctv.com/china/20080327/107119.shtml
You can still see the man with knife is there in the picture!
I even went to the Xinhua net, where the photo was officially released by the Chinese government.
http://news.xinhuanet.com/photo/2008-03/22/content_7836487.htm
You can also see that man IS THERE IN THE PHOTO!!
SHAME ON YOU !

OK, as I cannot read Chinese I could not find the image, so I relied on the info I found.
Interestingly enough, this does show even more on how stupid they are....

One correction, I missed this line in the article: "On Xinhua and other Chinese-language Web sites friendly to the regime, after the rally at which the witness spoke, the policeman in disguise had disappeared from photos taken at the same scene in which he had previously been visible. Recently, the original man-with-the-knife photo has returned to these Web sites."
Double manipulation because they were caught in the act now???
I adapted my original message.
Thanks for being so critical to anything apart from the Chinese media!
May peace and wisdom be with you.

You are not relied on the "info", but the "wrong info" you found.
I don't know who is "they" you meant in your reply. But I DO SEE HOW STUPID YOU ARE from your words.
Is it that HARD to admit that you were wrong to quote this article and wrote this post?!
It is so clear that somebody is trying to create lies on this topic. And you even denied to express any regret on spreading the rumor!
I thought it might be too hard to leave the "SHAME ON YOU" in my first reply. Now, it seems that you really deserve it.

You can keep lie to youself at any time you want.
There is one Chinese saying that "He who would hang his dog gives out first that it is mad". (欲加之罪,何患无辞) That is perfectly for you.
OK. This is the one last chance I will explain what you have not seen in your world. You still have the chance to open your eyes and use your brain.
I also missed the line from the article that you mentioned in your reply.
But, I double checked the original Chinese article from the same website. The "original man-with-the-knife photo has returned" IS NEVER MENTIONED IN THE ORIGINAL CHINESE PAGE!
The English page you are using is modified on March 28th. But, the lines you used in your reply is not included in the Chinese version, even the original Chinese article from "Sound of Hope" does not contain these lines!
http://epochtimes.com/gb/8/3/21/n2053838.htm
http://www.soundofhope.org/programs/162/88669-1.asp
(In case you could find somebody translate these pages for you.)
You can still try to cheat youself that the Chinese version is not maintained. In case you would do that, I would like to use your words back to you: "Interestingly enough, this does show even more on how stupid they are" when they creating rumors.
The wisdom will be with you if you could learn Chinese and its culture.
Oh, since you are so supportive for Tibat. You might learn Tibetan language instead.
You can go to their website: http://www.tibet.com/
They are so proud of the tibetan culture that they even DO NOT have tibetan language version of their website! THAT IS SO PERFECT !

OK, Let's try to answer you.
I often have a problem with Chinese sayings. For example, we don't hang our dogs around here.
So supposing you were not trying to insult me, let's continue...
So now your argument is down to that "Epoch Times forgot to update their Chinese page", well that's certainly a crime! Especially since nobody I'm sure that nobody in China will be able to read it to begin with as it will certainly not pass the censorship of your glorious government.
By the way, I'm sure the Epoch Times doesn't have the tens of thousands of media employees that China employs.
Regarding the Tibetan website, it must be a strange Chinese logic that when you write a website to be read in the world outside Tibet (where the Chinese would censor it anyway), that someone should use a language that almost nobody can read.
I'm also not writing in my native language in order to make it possible for more people to read this blog, is that really so difficult to understand?
Perhaps some people care about others...
May you be happy and wise.

What a load of Nationalistic Clap trap, the site you mention is for information for the outside world, you know freedom of speech dissemination of information... Oh no hold on You are a nationalistic Chinese who glorifies in your own ignorance, who likes to be told what to do by his government.......
www.tibet.net is multi lingual and is the web site tibetans use, it is in Tibetan, English, Chinese, German, Russian, Japanese, Spanish, Hindi & Arabic....

Please note, no "ordinary" Chinese person would have access to these pages unless outside China, comments supporting the Chinese "view" are therefore deliberate propaganda and should be viewed as such.
Youtube is being flooded with propaganda from inside China in an attempt to cover the real information that is filtering through.
The practical answer is to call for the complete boycott of the Olympic Games, the Chinese understand the "loss of face" in such a move to both the Western world as well as the Chinese, this may be the only way they will understand.

Hello Rudy,
First of all, I think you might have some misunderstanding about me, and I would like to correct you before we can continue discussing this topic.
I do not like the Communist Party of China, I hate the censorship from the government and I do think the government should do something to increase the freedom of the press and also the freedom of the religion (although I do not have any religion) and etc. And I think I even hate those things more than you, because I am a Chinese.
Yes, you are correct. It is not such a big deal that Epoch Times forgot updating their Chinese pages. But it is a big deal that even I show you the truth, you still keep misinterpret my explanation, and even worse, do not show any regret that you were spreading the wrong (or unconfirmed) information.
The main focus between us is whether there WAS ever a photo, sent out by Chinese government, WITHOUT the man-with-knife or not.
There is one paragraph in the page you referenced from Epoch Times that:
"
Ngawang Nyendra said, "This photo with this man in it was sent by the Chinese embassy to BBC and Radio Free Asia. The other photo was sent out later. They are exactly the same except the man has disappeared from the second photo.
"
If there was "the other photo" which has been sent without the man-with-knife to BBC or CNN or Reuters, please find it out from their websites and show the link to me. That is the only chance which could prove to me that you are correct.
Currently, I only see the photo without man-with-knife from the websites of Epoch Times and Sound of hope, which actually is the same article that Epoch Times use from Sound of hope. If that was the ONLY evidence you could found, I would not believe it. Because it is very clear that the Epoch Times and Sound of hope are both anti-Chinese government, and I believe they have the possibility to lie on this topic.
The other mistake you made is you said that you are "sure that nobody in China will be able to read" the pages that have been blocked by the government.
I am glad to see that your friend "prof-rabbit" correct you in his/her comments that "no "ordinary" Chinese person would have access to these pages unless outside China", so you should know that it is not "nobody".
But, what prof-rabbit said is only partly correct, and even raises another argument. I was born in Beijing and stay there for more than 25 years. I know a lot of "ordinary" Chinese person which both know how to access the blocked pages. For example, all my colleagues from offices in China can view those pages in the office without installing any software or using any additional proxy. If you guys keep quoting all those people which can visit the blocking page as not "ordinary" enough, I will not able to help you then.
Here, I would also like to say thanks to id "systems". I think BBC shows the wrong website to me, on the BBC pages, they said that http://www.tibet.com/ is the official website of the so called "Central Tibetan Administration". It seems they are wrong, it should be www.tibet.net .
But, I also have some words to id "systems". I love my county and I love my people, I am proud to be a Chinese. If you define this as Nationalistic, it is your problem. I don't think there is anything wrong that a person love his/her country, as far as it is not that extreme.
By the way, I have been able to access those "anti-government" data for quite a long time. And I always ask me to read both sides of the stories, so that I could be able to distinguish between truths and lies, right and wrong. Believe me, the Epoch Times and the Sound of hope are not that objective and fair as you expected.
Back to the topic, please try to locate the photo without man-with-knife from other international presses' website like BBC, CNN or Reuters. Show me the link to prove that you are correct. Otherwise, correct your mistake in your blog.

Hm. This topic here seemed to be quite hot and suddenly cooled down after the blogger was questioned about the truth. I am quite interested in what the blogger is thinking of at the moment...
Something like this, I suppose?
'You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time.' - P. T. Barnum
